Some children will take those skills into professional dance.

Some will take them into completely different paths.

Some will dance for years.

Some will dance for a chapter.

Dance does not need to lead to a title, a contract, or a career to be valuable. Its value is in who your child becomes along the way.

We need to make space for the idea that leaving dance can be a healthy, positive decision, not a failure.

I’ve seen former dancers go into roles supporting young people, working in wellbeing, leadership, business, healthcare, creative industries, and completely different sectors altogether.

Good teaching requires patience, emotional intelligence, communication skills, responsibility, and a genuine desire to support other people’s children. It is a profession in its own right.

For some young people, dance remains their path. For others, it becomes a chapter that gave them confidence, discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of self, even if they don’t carry on dancing forever.

Before dance teaches steps, it teaches something much more important.

It teaches children how to be learners.

Dance is not only successful if it produces dancers. It’s successful if it helps children grow into capable, confident humans.
