Where Great Training Can Lead
At SGDA, we take training seriously.
Our dancers are taught carefully, progressively and with a strong technical foundation, because we believe children deserve the highest standard of teaching from their very first class, not only when they become advanced dancers.
For those who want to take dance further, that foundation can lead to associate programmes, vocational training, university and professional performance. Our students have successfully progressed into some incredible opportunities within the dance and performing arts industry.
But progression is never rushed, and opportunities are never pursued at the expense of a dancer’s wellbeing.
We want every child to receive the training, guidance and opportunities that are right for them.
High Standards. Safe Training. Individual Progress.
We believe the best training environment is one where dancers are challenged properly, taught by knowledgeable teachers and given time to develop strong, safe technique.
That means we do not move dancers on simply because they have reached a certain age, rush pointe work, chase exam grades or treat every child as though they should follow the same pathway.
We look at the dancer in front of us.
Their technique. Their confidence. Their body. Their goals. Their readiness.
And we make decisions based on what is genuinely best for them.
Opportunities That Mean Something
When a dancer is ready for more, we help them find it.
SGDA dancers have accessed associate programmes, auditions, vocational schools, further training, university courses and professional performance opportunities.
For some, this becomes the beginning of a career in dance. For others, these experiences simply become part of an incredibly valuable dance education.
Either way, the goal is never just the next opportunity. It is developing capable, confident dancers who are prepared for whatever comes next.

The Best Path For Their Child
Every family wants something slightly different from dance.
The families who tend to feel most at home at SGDA are those who want excellent teaching, high standards and exciting opportunities, but also want to know that their child is being trained safely, thoughtfully and as an individual.
We will always choose what is right for the dancer over what looks impressive from the outside.
